Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area and being part of the West Coast racing community meant trips to Portland International Raceway took place on a regular basis.
I’m guessing I’ve been to PIR at least 30 times, and in most instances, it’s come while towing race cars for an SCCA Regional or National event, the Rose Cup Festival, an SCCA Pro race, Indy Lights, or something else related to a support series as part of the big IndyCar and IMSA weekends. Heading back this weekend for IndyCar’s return to Portland is something I’ve been looking forward to since it was announced in 2017.
