This photo makes me happy and sad. The car, a 1991 Lola T91/00-Chevrolet piloted by reigning CART IndyCar Series champion Al Unser Jr for Galles/Kraco Racing at Laguna Seca, is gorgeous in its patriotic Valvoline livery. Little Al finished second on the day to the new CART champ, Michael Andretti.
The only thing that makes me sad is the realization I took the shot 25 years ago…
